Clay forms to explore the idea of protection and to reveal the unseen. These are based on the average dimensions of one protected coastal owl species, the Western Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia hypugaea) these sculptures.

Hidden cavities of the owls are rarely seen. We only experience the owls from a distance to protect them.

This was a process of hand building with black mountain and porcelain clays over found objects like beverage cans and tennis balls.
